Data and the Pandemic – Waitematā’s Story

Waitematā DHB’s head of Analytics, Delwyn Armstrong, talks in detail to Health Informatics New Zealand about her experiences as part of the northern regional response team for Covid-19.

From the initial steps of trying to uncover the potential extent of the outbreak and its impact, through developing a view of hospital capacity and occupancy to developing a regional data store with all Covid-19 testing information in three weeks, Armstrong provides fascinating insight into the process and the tools used to manage it.

Central to the piece is how these experiences and learnings will shape data use in healthcare moving forward.
