At Acumen BI, our team is the heart of our success. To celebrate our camaraderie and foster stronger connections, we recently organised a team day filled with engaging activities, creative challenges, and insightful presentations. This special event allowed us to step away from our usual routines, share knowledge, and enjoy quality time together.
Our team day kicked off with a series of presentations from various team members, including discussions around automation and generative AI. These sessions highlighted our commitment to innovation and efficiency in our workflows.
We explored how automation helps us streamline repetitive tasks, enhance efficiency, and reduce errors. Key takeaways included:
- Time-Saving: Automation reduces manual effort for repetitive tasks.
- Accuracy: It minimises human error in data handling.
- Resource Optimisation: Frees up team members to focus on higher-value work.
We discussed when to automate, including high-frequency tasks, time-consuming processes, error-prone activities, standardised workflows, and low-value tasks.
Our team also delved into the integration of generative AI with our automation tools.
After a day of insightful presentations, we spent the next morning engaging in the Great Waiheke Island Escape Challenge, a series of fun and creative tasks designed to strengthen our teamwork and problem-solving skills, such as.
- Sandcastle Competition: We built an impressive sandcastle representing Acumen BI using only natural materials found on the beach. Everyone got involved, and the bonus points for team members buried as part of the sandcastle added an extra layer of fun.
- Phone Box Challenge: We squeezed as many team members as possible into a phone box, creating a hilarious bonding moment. Bonus points were awarded for managing to close the door with everyone inside!
- Creative Photo at Little Palm Beach: Our team got creative at Little Palm Beach, thinking outside the box to capture a unique and memorable group photo.
- Work of Art: We found an original piece of local art and recreated it using our team as the medium. The result was a beautiful and creative work that showcased our team’s artistic side.
- Jumpology: We perfected the art of Jumpology, capturing a dynamic shot of our entire team jumping against the stunning Waiheke backdrop.

In addition to some of these compulsory challenges, we also tackled several non-compulsory tasks, from handstands in Oneroa to enjoying ice cream and discovering unique local landmarks and art.
After completing the challenges, we gathered for a celebratory lunch at Mudbrick. The atmosphere was filled with laughter and stories from the day’s adventures.
This team day was a testament to the incredible spirit and friendship of the Acumen BI team. Our commitment to working together, supporting each other, and having fun is what makes us strong. Whether we’re tackling innovative projects or enjoying a day out, we always bring our best selves to the table.
